"Stoneteller, you say?" Ace asked, ears pricking in interest. "I thought that a well-organized group of cats would need to have a leader to sort things out. Anyways, do you have a Stoneteller right now? I guess you would, since you probably wouldn't have asked me to join if there wasn't someone already in charge." It made sense for there to be a leader for this tribe. She wasn't exceptionally good at following orders because she wasn't used to bowing down to anyone's command, but if she wanted to become a member of the tribe, she would have to get used to not being in charge.

"Yes, we do have a stoneteller, their main jobs are healing injuries and sharing with the Tribe of Endless Hunting. But it's not a monarchy, everyone influences the final outcome of major events." Seth couldn't help but remember how he wasn't paticularly fond of the previous stoneteller. Always scolding him for his sadistic habits, what was the big deal? It wasn't like he hurt anyone in the tribe.

The lively, and troublesome to-be, Water of Forbidden Memories, aka, Water, was out sneaking around. Why you ask? Cus' she COULD!
She knew she wasn't allowed to be out when she was this young and all, but come on? That is a dumb rule, and Water usually didn't follow the rules. She was a cave-guard to-be, so she knew how to fight! And besides, she had gotten taught the basic technique when facing off with a hawk.
Duck. Roll. Dodge. Claw. Repeat.
How hard was that? She could do that in her SLEEP for yowling out loud.
The grey and white she-cat scurried along the smooth rock of the mountain, a story above where the other tribe cats were, which she didn't detect yet of course.
I can't believe Stone said I was having trouble paying attention. Come on dad, I always pay attention..but my brain chooses not to do as I'm told sometimes. Not my fault. it has a mind of it's own.....wait is that even possible? The she-cat thought as she slowed her pace, and scented the air casually. She got closer to the edge to the drop off to the other rocky surface below.
"Let's see here....what haven't I explored yet..." Water murmured to herself, her dark ocean blue eyes scanning each direction, just seeing rock, and more rock. Now looking above her, she spotted that abandoned hawk nest that the tribe prey-hunters had raided awhile ago. It sat on a very bare tree, on a branch out alittle ways. It looked sturdy enough; must be fun to climb....it's real high up as well...
Water sat down and drew a paw over her face, sighing briefly. Suddenly her ears prickled up and she had an idea. A small smile appeared on her face, the one she used when she had a very good idea that is. I know! I'll climb up there and get those feathers the others left behind! Water remembered over-hearing one of the older prey-hunters say they had forgotten some, or that their wasn't enough room to carry them back, and they had left them to get later.
Eyes twinkling in mischief, the young cave-guard to-be, scraped the rock with her claws as she ran over to the base of where to climb up. She had thought she heard some voices earlier, but it was probably just her imagination.
or that voice in my head dad told me about....what was it called again? A Conscience? Pfh, who cares. The grey/white she-cat thought as she scrambled up the first rock stair-well. She then hoped up the next, and then the next and clawed her way up some more. She was almost there!
A big gush of mountain wind almost blew her off, but she clung on tightly. "Woah...!" She mewed as she almost lost her balance when she finally re-got her footing. "Stupid stub...are you even a tail?!" She hissed, glancing back at the stub. That was her tail alright, born with if.So her dad says. "Freakish tail.." She muttered, looking out across the mountain side, not noticing the other cats below still.

Seth didn't bother turning around, he knew exactly who it was. Who else could cause such trouble and loud noises in the supposive quiet mountains then Water?! "Water...what did I say about going into the hawk's nest?" he said in his usual calm tone but he started to take a dangerous warning edge. He didn't have time for some troublesome to-be. His nerves couldn't take it today and he was probably just gonna cuff someone over the ear instead of listening to excuses.

"Oh I see what you mean," Ace nodded thoughtfully as she replied to Seth's words. Ace's ears pricked as she heard a cat yowling from somewhere. Ace's ice blue eyes flickered up towards the sky, where a gray and white she cat stood precariously up above next to the mountainside. Her eyes narrowed, as she fought back a hiss of annoyance. Cat's needed to learn to look before they put their paws in places.
"You probably should get out of there," Ace advised through gritted teeth, "You don't want to set a paw down wrong and come stumbling down the mountainside for us to watch." Ace's tail twitched, wondering if she was being to harsh. She wasn't used to talking to cats much younger than her forty-five moons. A long time ago, she probably had done plenty of rash things in her life period. By this time, Ace had a very different aspect on the world around her.

"Calm down Ace...this is Water...she's...unique." he had to force the last two words out of his mouth. "I suppose you don't have to listen to the stoneteller all the time. It's not like a certain nosy little to-be does." he hissed glaring at Water. I wonder if my mother thought I was such a pest.

Ace's bristled silver pelt relaxed itself to it's normal state, even though she frowned. "I guess I was being a little harsh," Ace's tail flicked the ground lightly, "But it wasn't safe. I guess I would've done something similar when I was younger, though, if I had lived near the mountains." Ace turned her attention back to Seth. "I probably won't have a problem with obeying the Stoneteller, as long as I agree with what they say. But if they are the leader of the tribe, then I won't go against their words unless I feel like I need to."

"That's good, you'll save me a load of headaches that way." He sighed, being stoneteller was hard. Dealing with cats who had outlandish ideas wasn't part of his job description, at least the elders said nothing about it. "Well then if you ever get injured again just come to me okay?"

"You're the Stoneteller?" Ace's eyes pricked with surprise, before realizing she'd missed the obvious. She should've noticed he was the Stoneteller when he told her the Stoneteller's tasks. "Well, it's a good thing I've already met you! If I get hurt again, I'll come straight to you. Thanks you helping out with my shoulder, anyways, it feels a lot better." It did feel a lot better. Ace was glad she had ran into Seth when she had.

Water blinked and looked down at all the cat she just now noticed.
oh look! It's stoneteller and...those..other....cats. Water thought, grinning down at them, but then it slowly disappeared as she heard them yelling at her to come down.
She crouched their on the rock and yelled down at them in an annoyed tone, "Excuse me...but I'm GETTING those dumb FEATHERS you guys left last time!" She glared down at them, her claws sinking into the rock more than necessarly.
She stood back up and turned her back on them. "Sheesh, those adults...they need to loosen up."She mewed to herself, completly ignoring their orders. Like i'm doing what they say. She thought, smirking to herself, and hoping up on the lowest branch. She glanced back at the other cats; wondering if they were going to do anything to stop her. She wasn't scared, if she fell, she fell. Worse thing that could happen is one of those dorky to-bes come and save her;that would be SO embarassing!

Seth made a tremendous effort to keep his voice level, "Okay Water, go ahead and get the feathers but if you fall off, then I won't have the time to save you got it?" Sometimes I really wish I didn't have to be in charge. he mentally complained to himself. "After you get the feathers go straight home, understand?!" he suggested, if Water didn't obey him this time he felt as if he would personally go up there and cuff her over the head.

Water listened to what Stoneteller said and snickered silently to herself. I'll be fine. She thought, looking up the tall bark. She gripped the bark with her claws as she leaped onto the side.
She clawed her way up and to the branch the nest was sitting upon with ease. She balanced herself the best she could and made a quick dash to the nest; making it.
Ha! She thought as she saw the feathers laying there, she grabbed them up in her mouth and made sure she didn't leave any behind.

"Great so now that you accomplished your life's mission, GET DOWN AND GO HOME!!" he snarled. Seth never was very nice but today just wasn't his most patient day. Maybe he was just sort of lazy but he didn't feel that leftover feathers were worth the climb. But who knows what goes through to-be's minds? They're just kits only a moon or two older and still not that mature.

Ace watched Water fetching the feathers, her pelt bristling a bit again. He's right, if she falls, we won't have time to save her But in the end, she reached the feathers fairly easily. Ace had to admit that the small gray and white she cat did have nice balance. But she was quite cocky and reckless... The main concern Ace had was that the she cat had to get out of danger's way now. She didn't have any trouble getting into it. Ace glanced at Seth in approval, recognizing he knew how to control cats easily. He had the tone in his voice that would make any cat want to obey him. So, she wasn't surprised. And actually, thinking about it, and taking one last glance at Water, Ace realized she wouldn't have taken a moon's worth of prey to be in his position. She hadn't really consider leadership one of her ultimate goals and life. She would be content with her position as a Cave Guard for now. Satisfied with her thorough thinking, Ace took in a deep breath of fresh mountain air, a peaceful expression on her hard facial features.

Seth took a sideways glance at Ace, she seemed content and that was a good thing to feel in the mountains. He smiled his usual enigmatic smile while his vacant eyes stayed as blank as ever. He never considered himself very charismatic (maybe a little manipulative) but he did feel proud of himself being able to welcome Ace into the tribe. She certaintly was a cat who could take care of herself and hold her own. She should fit right in
