Name: Jaywind Gender: Tom Moons: twenty-two Clan: Riverclan Position: Warrior
Description:
Let's start with his pelt. Jaywind's coat in medium in length, more fluffy on his tail, legs, and belly. He has blue-gray fur that is covered in darker tabby stripes. His paws are snow white, along with his tail-tip, underbelly, chest, and muzzle. His fur isn't always well-groomed, and sometimes sticks out in places like his shoulders. Now, his build. Jaywind is strong and agile. His shoulder are broad and his legs are lean and muscular. He's rather tall, and his legs and tail are long. He has a well-fed look, but he's not fat. His long belly fur makes him look bigger than he really is, and when he puffs out his fur, he looks twice his regular size. Since he has long and strong legs, Jaywind is a fast runner. Plus, he's agile on his paws and has great agility. Some say he runs like the wind. That's where he got his name from. Jaywind. The last aspect off Jaywind that needs to be mentioned are his eyes. He has bright, electric blue eyes. Some she-cat swoon at their beauty. They have great contrast against his more pale face, and stand out among the common yellow and green eyes that more felines have. It's one of the more notable traits of Jaywind.
Personality:
Looking for someone negative to ruin your day? Well, Jaywind is the cat you need to talk to. He's pessimistic, sarcastic, and sometimes just rude. He almost always looks at the dark side instead of the bright side. Not that he's evil, because he's probably one of the most loyal cats in RiverClan. No, he just had a troubled childhood. Plus, every cat has two sides. Jaywind isn't always moody and downcast. He can be very nurturing, romantic, and inquisitive. Just not enthusiastic. Or happy-go-lucky. Those are two things he has never been. But he's fairly flexible and won't challenge orders. That is, unless he completely disagrees with them because they are mouse-brained. Then again, what kind of leader or deputy would make mouse-brained orders? Jaywind also has an ambitious streak. It's not so strong that he will go out of his way to become deputy, but it would be nice to hold some sort of authority in his Clan. Last but no least, Jaywind loves to climb trees. Sort of odd for a RiverClan cat, but I guess that's why he wasn't born in RiverClan.
History:
Childhood
Jaywind was born not to a RiverClan cat, but a loner named Luna. She was a small gray-and-white she-cat with stunning blue eyes (I guess we know where Jaywind got his eyes from). She never meant to get pregnant, it just happened, like it had happened to her mother and her mother's mother. Loners never really had kits on purpose, but she cared for them more than anything else in the forest. There were three: Sweet, Jay, and Jag.
Jaywind was the oldest, and Jag was the youngest. The only she-cat, Sweet, was right in the middle. She looked exactly like Luna, except her eyes were green instead of blue. Jag was the odd-ball, since he had no gray fur on his entire body. He had dark brown tabby fur and dark green eyes. Luna said he looked just like his father, who the kits never got to meet. He ended up getting hit by a monster before he even knew he had kits. Luna found out from another loner she became friends with, named Fawn. Luna decided not to tell her kits.
As they grew older, greenleaf turned to leaf-fall, and finally leaf-bare. The kits were almost as big as their mother now, except for Jag who was the largest of the three, ironically considering he was the youngest. This was when they saw their first snow. Luna had asked Fawn to help her with the kits, so the two she-cats took turns watching the three and hunting. Since Jay was the oldest, Sweet and Jag looked to him for entertainment and guidance. Good thing Jay was always full of ideas! The morning they woke up to snow, Jay instantly thought up a new game. Catch the snowflake! So they played all day long and were best friends forever! The end! Nope, sorry. This is not a happy story.
So, tired and tuckered out, the three slept like rocks until morning. When they woke up, Jay found Fawn hunched over Luna, gingerly licking her forehead and speaking encouraging words. Curious, he asked the tortoiseshell she-cat what was wrong with his moother. Startled, Fawn leaped back, but when she realized it was Jay, she let out an exasperated sigh. She told the young kit his mother was very sick and dieing.
By this time, Sweet and Jag woke up. They, too, noticed their mother's condition, and hurried over to Jay for an explanation. As a kit, he didn't try to beat around the bush. He told them exactly what Fawn had told him. Luna was dieing. Jag, who was very close to their Luna, begged Jay to help her and make her better. Jay just had to watch as Luna grew worse, and Jag anger also got worse. The morning Luna died, Jag actually attacked Jay. He told his brother he would never forgive him for not saving their mother and letting them die. Jay endured the punishment until Fawn came in to see what was wrong. Seeing Luna dead, she rushed the kits out and buried the pretty young queen.
After having Jag turn on him, Jay slowly began to change from innocent, adventurous kit to the cat he is now. His mother was dead and his brother loathed him. Sweet was the only family he had left who actually cared about him. Until Fawn announced she was taking them some place.
Fawn used to be named Fawntail, and she was a former RiverClan warrior. She left the Clan seven moons ago because she didn't like the way it worked. But she knew it was the only place she could take the kits. She brought them into the camp, even though she was uncomfortable with all the hostile stares she got from her past clan-mates. Finally, she got the see the leader. She told the Clan they were her kits, and she brought them to be raised by the Clan even though she wasn't staying. Even though most of the Clan disagreed, Jay and his siblings were allowed to stay. Apprenticeship
Now that they were in a Clan, Jay was known as Jaypaw. His sister was Sweetpaw and his brother was Jaggedpaw. He had a mentor and slept in the apprentice den. He was treated like he was born a RiverClanner, except for the hostile stares, suspicious whispering, and cruel rumors. And, Jaggedpaw never spoke with him or even looked at him. He treated Jaypaw like some rotting piece of fresh-kill. Jaypaw would have gone insane if it wasn't for Sweetpaw comfort. His sister stayed friends with both of her brothers, and never took sides. She never spoke about herself and was always there to listen to her brothers. That's why Jaypaw never knew she wanted to be a medicine cat until she became the medic apprentice.
At nine moons, Jaypaw's life had drastically changed since he was a kit. He was now a RiverClan apprentice, Sweetpaw was a medicine cat apprentice, and Jaggedpaw hated him with a passion. The Clan finally accepted the three and stopped the hostile glares and gossip. At last, they fit in with the other apprentices.
Once he found a place in the clan, Jaypaw began to make friends. Not a ton, because now he was the cat he is now. Pessimistic, sarcastic, and downcast. But he was a little different around his friends. A bit more energetic and playful. Like he was around his brother and sister growing up. With friends, he felt like RiverClan was his home, just like it had been in Luna's den in the forest.
He was getting older and more experienced. Jaypaw was turning into a fine fighter with his broad shoulders and high stamina. He did pretty good at hunting too. Not fish, more like water voles and the occasional mouse. As he grew more into his own persona, he drifted away from his siblings. Jaggedpaw already had nothing to do with him, and Sweetpaw was now learning the mysteries of medicine and herbs. Instead, he mostly went out with his best friend Puddlepaw, a forgetful, bubbly brown tom with fur that was always matted. They practiced fighting moves on each other and had hunting competitions. Jaypaw probably had the best time during his eleventh and twelfth moons. But he was getting too big for the apprentice den, and soon he was going to be made a warrior.
Warrior-hood
Jaywind and Puddlefur became warriors at the same time. They had exceeded in their hunting assessment the day before and beat all the other apprentices during battling practice (even though the other apprentices were all younger). A couple days later, Jaggedscar got his name, named for a scar he received over his right eye during a border fight. The next moon, Sweetflower also rwas given her name during the half-moon.
Two moons later, after being a warrior for three moons (thus being fifteen moons), Jaywind had his first real fight. RiverClan was once again trying to win Sunningrocks from ThunderClan. The battle was long and there was a lot of blood. Jaywind fought valiantly. He was given a long slash on his side, and his ear was cut, making blood drip into his eyes. But, though their efforts were great, ThunderClan won once again, sending RiverClan home defeated. Jaggedscar was been chosen to stay home, and Jaywind had taken his place. This made his brother especially bitter toward him that night. Jaywind didn't care though. He had fought in his first real battle and felt the adrenalin pumping in his veins. It was an experience he will never forget.
Role Playing Example:
Cold, wet rain. That was what was pouring down at this instant. The river was overflowing and the threat of a flood was spreading fear into every cats hearts. Jaywind hated rain and hated floods. He hated everything right now. He was huddled under a bush on the camp, his ears flat against his head and his tail twitching. He was just staring out into the storm, watching everyone dash through the rain, hoping no one would assign him to a patrol. All he wanted to do was stay dry and hidden, at least until the storm passed. Of coarse, that didn't happen. It was just his luck that Puddlefur came bounding over, squirmed under the bush, and shook his sodden fur. "Hiya Jaywind!" He meowed happily, setting down next to the annoying Jaywind. "Hey Puddlefur." Jaywind managed to spit out. "Oh, and thanks for the shower. Now I don't have to wash today." He added sarcastically. Puddlefur didn't take his friend's response personally. "Well, maybe if you went out and helped a little, the weather wouldn't bother you as much." "Oh, yah. I want to go frolic in the freezing rain and risk catching a cold. Then I won't be able to do anything." Jaywind muttered, fluffing his coat out against the wind. Puddlefur rolled his eyes and slithered out of the shelter. "Fine, but if you have a change of heart, I'll be sharing a fish with Brackentail." Jaywind watched him go and snorted. Annoying fur-ball.
